Please update your bookmarks.

Requests have moved from: https://overseerr.brutalflix.com

To the new address: https://requests.brutalflix.com

Overseerr has been replaced with Seerr, an updated version that allows for more backend customization and additional features. From your side, everything should work the same, but the link is different and will need to be updated anywhere you may have saved it.

Service status reported as down.

Status Hub Fix

  • Over the past week or so, the Status Hub may have shown multiple services as DOWN even though everything was actually running normally.
  • This has been resolved, and service statuses should now be reporting correctly.

What happened

  • The Docker container responsible for reporting status data to Cloudflare (for the Status Hub) was down.
  • Because that reporter was offline, the Status Hub incorrectly interpreted services as unavailable.

Current status

  • The reporting container is back online.
  • The Status Hub is now showing accurate service statuses again.

Aware of some movies not playing. Either with error or hanging.

Playback issue notice: please report affected titles

  • Some movies may fail to start, throw an error, or hang indefinitely during playback.
  • If you run into this, please use Overseerr → Report Issue on that title whenever possible.
  • If you can’t report it through Overseerr, please text me the movie title so I can track it down.
  • Cause (in plain English): there was minor corruption in the debrid database, and some source links were broken.
  • I’m working through the affected titles on the back end, but reports help me fix the right ones faster.

BrutalFlix Update

Collections maintenance complete

  • Collections have been fully refreshed (maintenance/additions/cleanup finished).
  • You may notice some brand-new collections across the library — they should look much cleaner and more intentional.

Overlay refresh: cleaner, unified look

  • The streaming and network overlays for TV Shows have been redesigned to be more consistent and visually unified.
  • Everything should look cleaner and easier to read across the library.

Plex Watchlist → Overseerr auto-request is now working

  • When you’re browsing in Plex (TV, phone, etc.) and find something that isn’t currently available on BrutalFlix, you can now request it without leaving Plex.
  • Just add the title to your Watchlist in Plex, and it will auto-request in Overseerr behind the scenes.

One-time setting required in Overseerr

  1. Open Overseerr
  2. Go to Your User Settings
  3. Enable:
    • Auto-request movies from Watchlist
    • (Optional) Auto-request shows from Watchlist
  4. Click Save

After that, adding items to your Plex Watchlist should automatically trigger requests.

New movie collection: “What Should I Watch?”

  • You’ll see a new Movies collection called “What Should I Watch?”
  • It randomly selects 3 unwatched movies for you.
  • Picks from a mix of genres/time periods, filtered to movies released after 2000.
  • Perfect for when you can’t decide what to watch.

Small updates

Jan 05, 2026, 7:17 PM PST
  • Better collections handling
  • Improved release quality checks
  • Improved subtitle handling
  • No more nightly reboot
  • Overseer collection handling
